What are the requirements for the storage conditions of degreasers?

times

The storage conditions of degreasers usually have the following requirements:

Temperature requirements

Generally speaking, degreasers should be stored in a relatively stable temperature environment, and the ideal storage temperature is between 5℃ and 35℃. Too high a temperature may cause the components in the degreaser to volatilize faster and accelerate chemical reactions, which in turn affects its performance and quality, and may even cause safety issues; too low a temperature may freeze the degreaser, destroying its original structure and performance, and may also cause stratification and precipitation after thawing.

Humidity requirements

The storage environment should be kept dry, and the relative humidity should generally be controlled at no more than 75%. High humidity can easily make the degreaser packaging damp. For some water-soluble degreasers, they may also absorb moisture in the air and become diluted, affecting the content of their active ingredients and degreasing effect. At the same time, a humid environment can easily cause metal packaging to rust, thereby contaminating the degreaser.

Ventilation requirements

The storage place needs good ventilation conditions. This is because most degreasing agents are volatile. Good ventilation can discharge the volatile gas in time, prevent the accumulation of flammable or harmful gases, reduce the safety risks such as fire and explosion, and prevent operators from inhaling too much harmful gases to protect their health.

Light protection requirements

Degreasers should be kept away from direct sunlight and strong ultraviolet rays. Light may cause photochemical reactions in some ingredients in the degreaser, causing changes in its performance, such as darkening the color of the degreaser and decomposing the active ingredients, which will affect the quality and use of the degreaser.

Packaging requirements

Degreasers should be stored in their original packaging containers, and the packaging should be kept intact and sealed. If the packaging is damaged, the degreaser may leak, react with air, moisture, etc., and may also cause cross-contamination between different degreasers. For some volatile and oxidizable degreasers, sealed packaging is particularly important to prevent their components from volatilizing or being oxidized and becoming ineffective.

Classification storage requirements

Degreasers of different types and uses should be stored separately to avoid confusion and mutual contamination. For example, acidic degreasers and alkaline degreasers cannot be mixed because they may undergo a neutralization reaction, causing both to lose their degreasing effect; degreasers containing different active ingredients should also be stored separately to prevent the ingredients from interacting with each other and affecting their performance. In addition, degreasers should also be stored separately from other chemicals, especially flammable, explosive, and toxic chemicals, to ensure safety.

When storing degreasers, relevant safety regulations and operating procedures should also be strictly observed, and necessary fire-fighting equipment and safety facilities should be installed in the storage place.
