The zinc spray used for outdoor furniture is usually cold spray zinc spray. The following is its introduction:
Ingredients and principles
Main ingredients: Zinc powder with a purity higher than 99.9%, volatile solvents and organic resins. The zinc content in the dry film is extremely high, reaching more than 96%.
Working principle: It has the dual functions of cathodic protection and barrier protection. On the one hand, the high content of pure zinc can provide cathodic protection for steel, and can protect the steel surface for a long time even in harsh environments; on the other hand, when the paint is oxidized, a layer of zinc salt will be produced on the surface, and the binder in the paint also provides additional barrier protection, slowing down the oxidation of zinc, thereby preventing outdoor furniture from rusting and corrosion.
How to use
Surface pretreatment: Dust, oil, and sea salt in coastal environments must be removed from the steel surface. Sandblasting is used to remove rust in harsh environments or high corrosion protection requirements to achieve grade ISO (SIS) Sa 2 1/2 SSPC SP-10; power tools are used to remove rust in general atmospheric environments or where sandblasting is not possible to achieve grade ISO (SIS) St3 SSPC SP-3. Dust, oil, and sea salt must be removed from the surface of galvanized parts. Abrasive paper is used to remove white rust to achieve grade ISO (SIS) St2 SSPC SP-2. Power tools are used to remove rust from rusted areas to achieve grade ISO (SIS) St3 SSPC SP-3.
Stir evenly: As it contains a large amount of zinc powder, it is easy to precipitate and stratify during storage. It must be fully stirred after opening the lid to confirm that there is no precipitation at the bottom of the can. It should also be stirred frequently during the coating process to prevent zinc powder precipitation.
Coating construction: When brushing or rolling, use a soft brush that can absorb a large amount of paint. Be careful not to extend the coating and leave brush marks. Ensure that the coating thickness is uniform. Generally, no dilution is required. When spraying with air, the filter screen is 100 mesh, the nozzle diameter is 1.5-2.0㎜, the air pressure standard is 0.29MPa, and the dilution is set to less than 5% of the weight with a special diluent. When spraying with airless, the filter screen is 50-60 mesh, the vertical distance to the coating surface is about 30cm, the coating speed is 10cm/second, and basically no dilution is required.
Scope of application
It can be widely used in the rust prevention of outdoor iron furniture and the maintenance of galvanized components, such as various outdoor tables and chairs, flower stands, fences, handrails, etc. It is also suitable for repairing the cut surface, welding points and galvanized layer shedding of galvanized steel.
